Look After
Your Brushes

fewer, better tools, looked after properly. here's how to keep your CONLAN. brushes performing like the day you got them.

your CONLAN. brushes are made to give you a flawless finish, use after use. but like a good blazer, the tools that last are the ones that get proper care, not the ones left at the bottom of a bag.

every handle is finished by hand and every fibre is chosen for a reason. give them a little love and they'll keep delivering for years, not months 🤍

STEP BY STEP

How To Clean Your Brushes

01
WETrinse the bristles under lukewarm running water, tip pointing down. keep the ferrule (the metal bit) and handle as dry as you can.
02
CLEANSEwork a gentle cleanser, a mild shampoo or brush soap, into the bristles until it lathers.
03
RINSEkeep going until the water runs completely clear. no colour, no residue.
04
RESHAPEgently squeeze out the excess water and shape the head back with your fingers.
05
DRYlay the brush flat with the bristles just over the edge of a counter or towel. never stand them upright, as water runs into the ferrule and loosens the glue over time.

PRO TIP

long wear foundation not shifting? work a little gentle oil cleanser into the bristles first, then go back in with your usual cleanser.

THE ROUTINE

How Often

On Yourself
anything used with liquid or cream (foundation, concealer, cream blush) at least once a week. powder and eye brushes can stretch to every two weeks.
On Clients
sanitise between every client and fully wash after every use. your reputation is only as good as your hygiene.

WHY IT MATTERS

It's About Your Skin

every brush picks up oil, skin and product with every use. leave it and that build up breeds bacteria, which is how breakouts and irritation start. clean brushes don't just look better, they're better for your skin and they blend better too.

ONE MORE THING

What To Avoid

never soak the ferrule or handle in water, and go easy on alcohol sanitiser sprays. a light mist on the bristles is great for a quick refresh between clients, but used heavily it strips the finish and weakens the glue. a little care goes a long way.
